The time machine shook and shrieked and then suddenly came to a stop. Everything was silent. Roger slowly swung open the door and looked around. He saw two figures; a man and a woman. Possibly a mother and son? He wasn’t sure. They both looked familiar though.
As he got closer, he realised who they were: Rand Fishkin and Gillian Muessig. Co-founders of Moz (well, SEOmoz back in the old days).
This was before SEOmoz had started. Back then, Rand helped Gillian make websites for a range of Seattle-based clients. Rand was so new to SEO at the time that he didn’t even really know what SEO was (by his own admission). But as we all know, he’d soon learn.
This wasn’t SEOmoz, but it was the company that would eventually become SEOmoz in 2004.
“Hi guys,” Roger exclaimed. “Keep up the good work!” He tried his best to do a ‘thumbs-up,’ but it looked a bit weird with his little robot hand.
“Thanks, little robot dude!” Gillian replied.
“Say…” Rand said, studying Roger’s every movement with curiosity. “I think you’d make a good company mascot one day.”
“Hehe, I’m sure I will,” Roger replied, winking. “Anyway, I’ve got to go, but it was good to see you in your early days. Good luck!” He headed back to the time machine with a skip in his robotic step.
Gillian and Rand looked at other, smiling warm smiles. But they soon changed to looks of perplexity.
“…Wait, what did he mean by ‘in your early days’…?”
